Sleepless....

Well, I was going to go running in the morning…so I went to bed at around 10, 10:30 ish, planning to wake at 7.

Here it is, past 1 am, and I am still awake. I tried and failed to get to sleep for about an hour and a half, so I gave up and got out of bed. Now, I’ve run out of things to do, so I’m going to try again…but the running plan has been shot down. I’m not going running on less than 6 hours of sleep…No. Just…no.

So, mark this down as another failure, I guess…

But for every bad thing here, I must post something good.

I managed to drink almost an entire cup of tea today, even when it had gotten cold. That’s something I’ve never accomplished before. Normally cold tea is disgusting to me, but it was fine this time. So, that’s good. And now, back to trying to sleep.

Injuries, injuries....

Well, I had my first Physical Therapy (PT) visit today. So far, the doc says that I probably won't need surgery for my shoulder, I just need to do strengthening exercises daily for a while. It was kinda creepy, she pressed on my shoulder and I could feel it THUMP into place and click back out. Right now it's taped to attempt to keep it in place somewhat, and though the tape restricts movement a bit, it also makes movement hurt less, so I suppose it's good.
So, that'll keep me from weight lifting for a while, that's for sure, but I'll keep running and eating right, and things will still get better. Changin' my world, one step at a time...

Oops

Well, this week hasn't gone so swimmingly. I've continually missed my running, though I have the convenient excuse that my partner was/is sick...but no more excuses. I'm going running tomorrow morning. And with luck, I'll be running at my parents' house Saturday morning. (Fancy treadmill FTW!)
And you know what else?

I'm going to start studying Buddhism again. I'd really like to be a better Buddhist. Maybe I'll have my dad teach me or something. If he won't, then I've got enough books, that's for sure. Even if he won't teach me himself, I can probably borrow his books too.

Oh, and that reminds me. I've signed up for a virtual Zen retreat. It starts next friday. Maybe that'll get me to do my goal of posting every day. I'll use this as a meditation journal and write my experiences. (Y'know, if you do it right, running is also meditative...)

So, that's about all I have to say for now...I guess I'll be off then. I should get some sleep.

Ta-da. I messed up in a few places, but it was hard enough to get it working, much less to redo the silly thing...

Keeping Up

My room mate Amber and I have been running together for about a week. We missed two days (Feb 4, 5) due to sore legs and general tireds, and then she went out last night and didn't come running with me this morning, but I went alone anyway. Here are my times.(Note-I ran on the track, so everything is approximate)

Feb 2, 2009- 1 mile, straight, 10:30

Feb 3, 2009- 1.5 miles, 30 minutes w/ walking

Feb 6, 2009- 1 mile, 11:26 w/walking

(this means if I just up my endurance a little and drink enough water, I'll be able to make a 9 minute mile no problem. My pace is good.)

All in all, I'm doing pretty well. I just have to keep it up. And, of course, we can't forget the school work. I've got to get A-'s or better in every class.
